Teleprompter FAQ & Troubleshooting
Quick answers to the most common questions about running VocalScroll, fixing permissions, and avoiding frustrating misfires mid-recording.
Last updated
Why does VocalScroll ask for microphone permission?
VocalScroll’s voice mode uses your browser’s Web Speech API. Granting microphone permission lets your browser send short snippets for transcription so the app can highlight lines accurately. If you prefer not to allow access, switch to timed scrolling or turn Record Me off.
How do I stop the script from drifting?
Run a short warm-up read, ensure background noise is minimal, and slow down slightly while enunciating key phrases. Tap Re-Sync whenever the highlight jumps. For a deeper checklist, see Mastering Voice-Controlled Scrolling.
Can I use VocalScroll on mobile?
Yes. Timed mode is always available on phones and tablets. Pair your device with a Bluetooth keyboard or remote clicker for hands-free scrolling. Hardware suggestions live in the Teleprompter Hardware Setup Guide.
My camera preview is mirrored. What now?
Toggle the Mirror switch in the controls bar to flip both the teleprompter text and the video preview. This keeps gestures aligned with what your audience sees, especially when using beam-splitter glass.
Does VocalScroll upload my scripts or recordings?
No. Scripts stay in your browser’s localStorage and recordings remain in memory until you download them. For extra peace of mind, review the Privacy policy inside the app.
